August 19, 2025

Contact: Sarah Fulton (302) 401-1114

As Chair of the Senate Health and Social Services Committee, Sen. Marie Pinkney will convene a roundtable discussion with health providers, community leaders, and representatives from government agencies about the future of Medicaid in the State of Delaware.

This conversation will feature opening remarks from Congresswoman Sarah McBride, and will include panelists from the following organizations:

Beebe Healthcare
ChristianaCare
Delaware Department of Health & Social Services
Delaware Division of Medicaid & Medical Assistance
Delaware Healthcare Association
Henrietta Johnson Medical Center
Highmark Health Options
La Red Health Center
Nemours Children’s Hospital
Planned Parenthood of Delaware
Saint Francis Family Medicine
TidalHealth Nanticoke
Westside Family Healthcare

“According to the Congressional Budget Office, H.R. 1 — legislation that was championed by the Trump Administration and narrowly passed by Congress earlier this summer — will cut federal spending on Medicaid and Affordable Care Act marketplaces by about $1 trillion over the next decade. This means millions of Americans — specifically, thousands of Delawareans — will lose health care coverage,” said Sen. Pinkney, following the passage of H.R. 1 in July.

“While these federal funding cuts have not yet gone into effect, we must begin preparing Delaware patients, providers, and taxpayers now. Wednesday’s conversation will be the first of many, focusing first on the immediate impacts to medical providers and healthcare systems across the First State. Subsequent conversations will focus on patient access, health outcomes, mitigation strategies, and more.”

WHEN: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: Route 9 Library & Innovation Center
Multipurpose Rooms A & B
3022 New Castle Avenue, New Castle, DE 19720

All members of the media should RSVP to sarah.fulton@delaware.gov by Wednesday at noon.
