EDGEMOOR — Joint chairs of the Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force, Senator Darius Brown and Representative Franklin Cooke, issued the following statement:

“The Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force members have been working with port operator Enstructure and local labor leaders from the International Longshoremen’s Association to expand the Port’s footprint in our community and create economic development opportunities that benefit the State of Delaware.

We applaud the progress that Enstructure has made in recent months to diversify their business portfolio and attract new partnerships that strengthen the Port’s standing in the region. A thriving port is key to a thriving local economy.

To that end, we want to make sure the community knows about the Job Fair & Career Expo that Enstructure is hosting on Wednesday, September 24 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the DelTech Wilmington campus. More information for this event can be found at their website.

Now that the necessary Environmental Appeals Board permit was granted by DNREC for the Edgemoor terminal project, we have just one more hurdle to clear before we are full steam ahead on the Port of Wilmington expansion. Once the needed federal permits are secured, construction will be able to commence, bringing thousands of new jobs to Delaware.”
