EDGEMOOR — The final hurdle for the Port of Wilmington expansion project has been cleared, following news that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting process has been completed.

Co-chairs for the Port of Wilmington Expansion Task Force Senator Darius Brown and Representative Franklin Cooke celebrated the announcement with a joint statement:

“For the past several months, members of our Task Force have been working with port operator Enstructure and local labor leaders from the International Longshoremen’s Association to expand the Port’s footprint in our community and create economic development opportunities that benefit the State of Delaware.

“After months of diligence and engagement, the Edgemoor container terminal is finally ready to commence. We thank the Diamond State Port Corporation for their collaboration on this matter.

“This is a great day for workers in the First State, and we look forward to putting shovels in the ground.”
