DOVER — Following the announcement that Rep. Debra Heffernan would not seek re-election this fall, Senate President Pro Tempore Dave Sokola issued the following statement:

“It has been an honor to serve alongside Rep. Deb Heffernan since she first joined us in Dover following the 2010 election. Her work ethic and commitment to the people of Delaware has long been unparalleled.

Deb and I have always had a lot in common, from our professional backgrounds, to our shared interest in education policy, to bonding over being parents and our shared love of baseball. We served together as co-chairs of the Joint Capital Improvement Committee, making historic investments in projects and programs across our state — the impacts of which will long outlast our tenure here in this building.

On behalf of all of us in the Senate Democratic Caucus, we thank Rep. Heffernan for her years of dedicated service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
