Digital Communications Specialist 

Summary Statement

The Senate Democratic Caucus Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for leveraging various digital tools to advance the caucus’s policy goals and accomplishments. This role primarily involves photography and videography, social media management, email list management, and webpage management.  

Nature and Scope

The Digital Communications Specialist shall report to and receive direct assignments from the Communications Director and Deputy Director, the Caucus Chief of Staff, and members of the Majority Caucus. 

Due to the sensitive nature of the work, the Digital Specialist must be able to exercise discretion, confidentiality, and an ability to prioritize competing work assignments. The Digital Communications Specialist is expected to commit to a flexible work schedule, which will include meetings and events in the evening and during weekends. 

Required Skills
The Digital Communications Specialist shall possess the following skills: 

  • Proficiency in photography and videography  
  • Social media acumen 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, photo editing software, e-newsletter/marketing programs 
  • Web site management (Word Press) 
  • An ability to write clearly, concisely, and quickly 
  • Knowledge of Associated Press grammar style 
  • An ability to adapt, change course, and/or multi-task as necessary 

Principal Duties 

  • Photographing and filming legislators at various community events (ribbon cuttings, bill signings, etc.)  
  • Editing photos and videos to be shared to caucus members’ digital platforms 
  • Maintaining the caucus website 
  • Supporting other communications staff in maintaining both caucus and individual members’ social media presences and effectively use social media to drive messaging 
  • Working with legislators and staff to provide timely communications to constituents about issues in the district (i.e. traffic or roadwork, extreme weather, etc.) 
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Salary: The salary range for the Digital Communications Specialist is $55,000-$65,000, commensurate with skill set and experience.
