In response to Tuesday evening’s election night results, Senate President Pro Tempore Dave Sokola, Senate Majority Leader Bryan Townsend, and Senate Majority Whip Elizabeth “Tizzy” Lockman issued a joint statement:

Amidst record-high voter turnout, the results couldn’t be clearer: Democrats have delivered results for families in the First State — and we will continue to do so as we head into the 153rd General Assembly.

We’re proud that all of our members have been re-elected to serve another four-year term. Congratulations to Senator Russ Huxtable for proving that Coastal Delaware remains a Democratic stronghold, and to Senator Darius Brown for achieving a resounding victory in the Second Senatorial District.

We also congratulate our incoming Governor Matt Meyer on his victory. We look forward to working with the Meyer Administration on the issues that matter most — making housing more affordable, increasing access to childcare, cutting healthcare costs, supporting workers and creating economic opportunity for all.

We are extraordinarily proud of our colleague, Kyle Evans Gay, as she becomes our next Lieutenant Governor. Her dynamic, issues-focused campaign inspired voters across our state to envision a brighter future for the next generation of Delawareans.

Finally, we celebrate the historic victory of Sarah McBride, someone who has deservedly made national headlines by working every single day to lift up Delawareans in every corner of our state. We are honored to have someone of Sarah’s character, intellect, and empathy represent us Congress.
