As a result of Senator Hoffner’s work on Senate Substitute 3 for Senate Bill 169, folks who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes will now be provided with financial compensation to help them get back on their feet.
Compensation is available to individuals who served time in prison, psychiatric facilities, or were on probation or registered as sex offenders for crimes they did not commit. An individual claiming wrongful conviction or, if deceased, that individual’s heirs, may bring a petition for compensation in Delaware Superior Court.
