DOVER — In response to last night’s presidential address, Senate President Pro Tempore Dave SokolaSenate Majority Leader Bryan Townsend, and Senate Majority Whip Elizabeth “Tizzy” Lockman issued a joint statement on behalf of the Senate Majority Caucus:

“While Donald Trump seeks to sow division and distrust, Delaware Senate Democrats remain clear-eyed and committed to fighting for justice, equity, and a fair shot for all.

Here in Delaware, working families deserve leaders who will fight for the values that matter most — not threaten their communities, rip apart education standards for students across the country, or limit the many government programs that provide critical assistance.

Our caucus stands ready to support our Attorney General Kathy Jennings’ efforts in court to fight back against the Trump Administration’s power grabs, and are committed to passing laws and approving budgets that lift up our neighbors and protect our neighborhoods.

As we head back into session next week, the Senate Democrats will proudly continue our efforts to expand affordable housing, improve public education funding, protect reproductive health care, and much more.”
