In response to an unprecedented public outcry this winter about widespread spikes in energy bills, the Senate passed three critical pieces of legislation today that seek to hold our public utilities accountable to their customers. Senate Bills 59, 60, and 61 did not just pass with bipartisan support — but they passed unanimously.

For several years, Sen. Stephanie Hansen has served this body as the preeminent expert on energy policy. Her expertise and diligence to put Delaware on a sustainable path toward more certain energy reliability have resulted in three thoughtful bills that will protect ratepayers from future undue cost increases.

Despite the misinformation being spread by Republicans about the root causes for these increases, Sen. Hansen has remained resolute in her mission to hold our utility companies accountable to their customers by restricting their ability to needlessly raise rates.
