Senate Bill 66

Since the year 2002, schools, their districts, and child care providers have been required to keep binders of community notifications with information about registered sex offenders. This practice was implemented to ensure schools have a role in community awareness. However, this outdated practice is outdated and creates more of a burden on staff and faculty without bringing much benefit to the public.

Sen. Sokola introduced Senate Bill 66 to modernize the Delaware sex offender registry community notification process. This legislation will transition this process to a digital format that places a collaborative requirement on school staff, parents, and police agencies to obtain and manage this information.
