Senate Bill 61

Senate Bill 61

Senator Stephanie Hansen, chair of the Environment, Energy, and Transportation committee, introduced three pieces of legislation during the 153rd General Assembly in response to the rising energy bills Delawareans were experiencing from Delmarva (Senate Bills 59, 60, and 61).

Senate Bill 61 aims to enhance transparency and accountability in how Delmarva Power and the Public Advocate participate in PJM Interconnection’s decision-making processes. This legislation requires detailed reporting of all votes, and provides rationale for how these votes benefit the public. Making this change to PJM ensures their decisions alight with the public good.

With the passing of SB 61, Delaware joins several other states in vying to make all votes to PJM, our regional grid operator, transparent to the public.
