Senator Marie Pinkney, a licensed social worker, has been a long-time advocate for strengthening Delaware’s social work professionals. Senate Bill 109, sponsored by Sen. Pinkney will increase social work mobility, work space flexibility, and grant them access to broader opportunities.
This legislation enters Delaware into the Social Work Licensure Compact, a national agreement that allows social workers to obtain a multistate license across participating states. By joining this agreement, Delaware becomes a part of the Compact Commission – giving us a seat to represent our state with the 24 other participating states in the Commission.
The Compact will make it easier for qualified professionals to practice across state lines, helping to expand access to mental health and social services in communities that need them the most. This reinforces our commitment to supporting the behavioral health workforce, strengthening service delivery, and improving the overall wellbeing of families across the state.
