DOVER — Following the announcement of her retirement, Senate President Pro Tempore Dave Sokola and House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown issued the following statement reflecting on the tenure of State Treasurer Colleen Davis:

“On behalf of our colleagues in the Senate and House Majority Caucuses, we want to extend our most sincere gratitude to State Treasurer Colleen Davis for her years of dedicated service to the people of Delaware.

Immediately upon taking office in 2019, Colleen got to work forging strong partnerships with us in the Legislature and advocating for a robust slate of legislation to benefit the lives of young children, workers, and retirees across our state. From the preservation of Delaware’s AAA bond rating to the maintenance of critical programs like ABLE accounts for many Delaware families,  the Treasurer’s Office under Colleen’s leadership has served as a reliable pillar of financial security and prosperity — even during unprecedented challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and changing tides in Washington.

Perhaps her most notable and lasting contribution during her tenure as Treasurer will be marked by the creation of the Delaware EARNS Program, which gave tens of thousands of Delawareans that previously did not have a way to save for retirement an affordable and accessible vehicle to do so.

We thank her for her collaboration, creativity, and constituent-centered approach to governance, and wish her all the best in whatever she chooses to do next.”
