Lawmakers have a fundamental responsibility to act as careful stewards of taxpayer dollars. That’s why the Senate passed Senate Bill 4, which will establish an independent Office of the Inspector General (OIG) as a non-partisan agency tasked with investigating and preventing fraud, mismanagement, corruption, and other ethical or financial abuses.
This office will enhance accountability and transparency, which will build the public’s trust in public government. This legislation passed in May 2025 with bipartisan support across both chambers. The Inspector General will be chosen by a selection panel and then selected by Gov. Matt Meyer.
