Senate Bill 82 (S)

S. Elizabeth Lockman
Senate Bill 82 (S)

Completing a three-year effort to ease the burden on families required to navigate different school registration processes in different districts, Senate Bill 82 created a universal public school registration process for all 42 public school districts and charter schools in Delaware, starting with the 2023-2024 school year.

Passed with bipartisan support, Sen. Lockman’s bill directed the Delaware Department of Education to make the school registration process uniform, available to complete online or in paper form, and available in both English and Spanish. Uniform information about the universal public school registration system also was required to be posted on each school website and in other publications.

Finally, the bill directed DOE to train district and charter school personnel on the new system, and certify that they have completed that training, before providing school registration forms under the new system.
