Senate Bill 133

Laura V. Sturgeon
Senate Bill 133

Continuing her focus on helping Delaware public schools provide evidence-based reading instruction proven to raise lagging literacy rates, Sen. Sturgeon ushered Senate Bill 133 through the Delaware General Assembly with unanimous support in both the Senate and the House.

To prepare Delaware schools for the shift to evidence-based reading instruction created by Sen. Sturgeon’s Senate Bill 4 (S), Senate Bill 133 directed colleges and universities that help train the First State’s future reading specialists and teachers to begin offering teaching courses on evidence-based reading instruction by July 2023.
