Senate Bill 188 (S)

Spiros Mantzavinos
Senate Bill 188 (S)

As a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Sen. Mantzavinos passed legislation that is providing tax relief to thousands of retired service members who live in Delaware.

Passed unanimously by the Senate and the House, Senate Bill 188 (S) excludes up to $12,500 worth of military pension income from state tax calculations for all retired service members, regardless of age, resulting in more than $1 million of tax relief every year.
Previously, Delaware offered that pension exclusion only to residents over the age of 60, while younger retirees – including retired service members – were only eligible for a $2,000 pension exclusion.
