Senate Bill 211

Spiros Mantzavinos
Senate Bill 211

A long-standing champion for Delaware seniors, Sen. Mantzavinos passed legislation that protects older workers from experiencing age-based discrimination during their search for gainful employment.

Introduced on the first day of the 2022 legislative session, Senate Bill 211 specifically prohibits employers from requesting the ages, birth dates or graduation dates of job seekers on their initial application, unless a particular age is a qualification of employment.

Passed with bipartisan support, SB 211 added Delaware to a list of at least five other states that have enacted laws to bar employers from asking age-related questions on applications.
