Senator Darius Brown’s statement on Law Enforcement Accountability Task Force’s first meeting

August 6, 2020

Senator Darius Brown, chair of the Delaware Legislative Black Caucus and the Senate Judicial Committee, released the following statement on today’s inaugural meeting of the Delaware Law Enforcement Accountability Task Force:

“Like all people of color in Delaware, the members of the Delaware Legislative Black Caucus experience daily the very injustices and prejudices we are seeking to address through the Justice for All Agenda. Today’s Law Enforcement Accountability Task Force meeting is an important step forward in the commitment to progress we laid out during the 150th General Assembly session and will continue to fight for in the years ahead.

The complement of diverse voices represented on the task force is vast, and we expect more voices to join them through the task force’s subcommittees and the public input we are encouraging at every meeting.

Progress requires participation. That is why we will continue to welcome the input of all advocates for justice as we work together to develop recommendations that will hold our law enforcement agencies to the high standards of conduct and accountability necessary to earn the trust of all Delawareans.”
