Advisory: Joint Finance Committee to Meet Monday; Senate to Reconvene Tuesday, Thursday

The Delaware State Senate and its committees will be holding several public meetings in the coming days, as the Legislature completes its last full week of the 150th General Assembly.

Due to ongoing health concerns related to COVID-19, the following meetings will be held in a virtual format and broadcast live to the General Assembly website or one of two General Assembly YouTube channels.

Legislative Hall remains closed to the public.

Monday, June 22

The Joint Finance Committee will meet in the House chamber at 1:30 p.m. to draft Grant-In-Aid legislation, which provides support to fire companies and other nonprofits that serve Delawareans. A full agenda can be found here. Audio of the meeting will be broadcast on the General Assembly website.

The Senate Energy Committee will hold a hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Senate Bill 250, legislation that seeks to update Delaware’s Renewable Portfolio Standard first created in 2005. A full agenda can be found here. Video of the committee hearing will be broadcast on the Senate YouTube channel.

Tuesday, June 23

The Senate Executive Committee will hold a hearing at 2 p.m. to consider 10 gubernatorial nominations, including two judgeships, a Family Court commissioner and a Secretary of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services. The full Senate will reconvene at 3:30 p.m. The agenda includes consideration of gubernatorial nominees, 28 reappointments, two consent agendas that feature several COVID-19-related bills, the operating budget, the Bond Bill and Grant-In-Aid. Thursday, June 25

The full Senate will reconvene at 3 p.m. The agenda will include consideration of House Bill 346, legislation that would expand access to the existing absentee-ballot process until January 12, 2021. Additional legislation also could be considered. A full agenda will be posted here. Video of the committee hearing will be broadcast on the Senate YouTube channel.
